Tool for Practice Tuesday- System for Observing Family Therapy Alliance (SOFTA)
Reading stories of success and failure in treatment got me thinking about measuring treatment success or failure. For Scholarly Saturday, the article argued that the act of measuring symptoms and giving clients feedback at various points of treatment seemed to have a positive effect on treatment outcome. If that is the case I found a good one for family therapy..
If you are a family therapist, this website is essential. These scales is in the public domain and a lot the resources are FREE. The scales can be used for individuals and families; they are presented in multiple languages. There are observational rating scales for supervisors to use as a tool for supervision. It features self rating scales for clients and clear instructions how to use it. This is a great tool for thinking critically about our alliance with clients and their families. Happy processing the therapeutic alliance to hopefully improve treatment outcome.
