It’s Complicated: The social lives of networked teens

Looks like a good read to engage and attempt to keep ahead of teens..

Curb Service

I try to read at least one prof dev book at a time to keep my learning juices flowing without inducing information overload. Currently, I am reading the book It’s Complicated: the social lives of networked teens by Danah Boyd. This book has been incredibly interesting so far in explaining why teens use social media, how teens use social media, and how adults impact teen use of social media. It is not a library-geared book, which is refreshing. I read a lot of books aimed at librarians. However, it is very easy to apply what Boyd writes to the library setting. I would definitely recommend it to any YA librarian or person who works with teens on a regular basis.
